Writing Introductory Paragraphs with Thesis Statements
Follow instructions on the handouts below.
Task 1: After reading the thesis statement handout, complete the exercises on the sheet. Once you have completed the exercises write a thesis statement in which you compare the protagonist from "Blue Boots" and "The Tell Tale Heart"
Task 2: Read the introductions and hooks handout and complete the quick activity on the back.
Task 3: Using the instructions on the compare and contrast handout write an introductory paragraph. The thesis statement you created in task 1 will go at the end of this paragraph. In addition, also write a sentence for each body paragraph; these paragraphs should tell me what you would talk about in these paragraphs.
